This is a vintage Griswold No 9 skillet cover with full lettering, pattern 469. This is the low-dome skillet cover. The patent date puts this one about 1925, so about 100 years old. These lettered covers are particularly hard to find, and this size is less common than the size 8 and 10 covers. Item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process insures the removal all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. Item is well seasoned with several rounds of seasoning. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item will take on a brown color.
