Vintage GREEN Griswold No. #7 Cast Iron Skillet with Cover #467. Large Block Logo, Erie PA dated Feb 10,1920 and Sept 22,1925. The Vintage Green Griswold cast iron set has No chips or cracks and sets level. The Lid/Cover rates Very Good and the Skillet shows bottom wear and rates Good to Good-Plus. Antique Large 16 Cast Iron Admiral Nelson Doorstop Door Stop Signed McCowan
His is a large 16″ high and 3 1/2″ by 2 1/2+ base cast iron very heavy 13 lb. Doorstop of the Admiral lord nelson. I did a lot of research on this piece because the name on the bottom “C H McCowan” is not very common. But the good news is that it is in fact this name that makes this piece both early and authentic. I found a cast iron – iron marked. McCowan Cincinnati with the same exact lettering type as this one. I was able to trace a McCowan Co. In Cincinnati Ohio that manufactured cast iron pipes in a newspaper The Cincinnati Enquirer from Cincinnati, Ohio June 24, 1891 Page 5. Also not being an expert at first glance I thought the paint did not look old but rather stained somehow to look old. Maybe this was originally all black and someone painted it at some time. Or maybe this is the way that it is supposed to look. I leave that for the experts to determine so I have included every angle with high resolution photos so that you may judge for yourself. From my recent Japanese acquisitions, a rare hare that bursts with brilliant night light. Brilliantly Designed and Beautiful to Admire at Night. Japan, this handsome quality old style seated rabbit motif iron garden lantern is an exceptionally rare find and an authentic old work of art. It survives in a pleasing black color. Created to original eponymous master craftsmanship standards, this wonderful rabbit is an especially hard to find style and will be highly coveted in years ahead. Many people place LED or candles or tea lights inside the bottom of the main section making a romantic and enjoyable decorative accent for entertaining friends and family. In a convenient portable size, it may be suspended from its iron loop (but it is heavy so must be secured well) or installed on any surface.
