This is a vintage Griswold no. 9 skillet cover with full lettering, pattern 1048. The patent date puts this one about 1925, so about 100 years old. These high dome lettered covers are particularly hard to find, the skillets are much more common than the covers. This item is from an old collection and was cleaned and seasoned, then stored for many years. Because item was stored for many years, there may be spots of light surface rust. This can generally be washed away then re-seasoned before use. This item is photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, item may take on a brown color. Item is much darker under normal light. Photos are part of the items description.
