Presenting this Griswold Large Block Logo #3 Scotch Bowl. The inside of this bowl is in pretty rough shape, it has a lot of deep large pits probabally due to rust or currostion. The outside and bottom however is beautiful, the logo is nice and crisp, and in great shape. This bowl still will function fine and from the outside is an amazing looking piece of history. Restoration: Thoroughly cleaned using electrolysis and lye, followed by three layers of seasoning with grapeseed, avocado oil, and beeswax. This scotch bowl is ready for cooking but will continue to develop its non-stick surface over time with regular use. Cooking spray, butter, oil, fats, should be used to help prevent items from sticking and will also help with the continued seasoning process. The Griswold Manufacturing Company, founded in 1865 in Erie, Pennsylvania, was a prominent American maker of cast iron cookware. Griswold produced high-quality skillets, Dutch ovens, waffle irons, and more. Known for its craftsmanship, Griswold cookware is highly sought after by collectors today, especially pieces featuring the company’s distinctive logos, such as the “small block” and “large block” logos. Griswold pieces remain prized for their durability, design, and historical value. Why Use Antique Cast Iron? Antique cast iron cookware is often preferred over modern pieces because it has a smoother cooking surface, making it more non-stick once seasoned. It’s typically lighter and more finely crafted, with greater durability and historical value. Vintage cast iron also offers the benefit of sustainability, as it repurposes high-quality cookware that improves with use, making it both a functional and collectible item. These are normal for cast iron of this age. Every effort has been made to describe the condition accurately and provide clear images. Please review all images and feel free to ask any questions.
